How a Search Engine API call works

Search Engine requests are synchronous: submit a query with its engine and localization settings, then read the requested result format from the same response.

Search Engine calls cost 30 credits on current plans and 16 credits on legacy plans. The proxy/rendering cost table for URL-based APIs does not apply to this endpoint.

Request limits depend on your plan. Respect rate-limit responses, avoid uncontrolled retries and check target-specific proxy requirements. Additional targeting or special-domain rules can affect costs; confirm your configuration in the pricing plans and documentation.

Questions about the Search Engine API

Which engines are available?: The active API route supports Google and Bing. Google offers search, maps, trends and reviews; Bing supports web search.
Why do results differ between requests?: Search results depend on the query, country, language, page and time of retrieval. Keep those parameters consistent for comparisons.
Can I retrieve Google Jobs as JSON?: The backend requires html or json-html when jobOffers is enabled. The standard json format is not supported for that option.
Do I send a URL or a scraper name?: Neither is needed for a standard search request. Send engine, search, searchType, format, domainCountry and resultLang to /scrape/search-engine.
